Rainy Days, Dreary Haze

Winter has arrived in the form of about 80 X 10^32 raindrops this week, and its completely dark around 4:30. Everybody seems to be zombifying a little bit, and its pretty grey and dreary. At least it makes for some good photo opportunities. With my new tripods, trusty $5 Wal-Mart umbrella, and a pair of shoes I gave up trying to keep dry a long time ago; I am going to try to get out in the wetness as much as I can and snap some cool pictures of Nanaimo in its truest form. Stay posted, and thanks for taking time out of your "study schedule".

Nocturnalism

I'm not sure why this is but I've always been a huge fan of the 12ish hours or so, (this time of year anyways), when the sun is on the side of the globe that I'm not. All the lights look better, people look better, and you can basically select whatever you want to ignore or focus on, by simply turning it on or off with light. Its kind of an escapist mentality, but hey if you really weren't an escapist lets face it, you wouldn't be on your computer jacked in to the collective cybermind of the entire species fading away into the ether right now would you? No of course you wouldn't. You'd be out there in the world facing everything with perfect clarity and conscience! But who want's that? I for one do not, so I will condone reading books, watching tv and film, and of course.. reading my blog.

Anyways what I was trying to say is that I love night time, especially in Nanaimo. So here are some pictures I have taken on one particularly enjoyable brisk night time walk along the shoreline. Enjoy!

Hallowed

Halloween has come and gone so this is a little behind, unfortunately I have been disconnected from the wide world of the web for a little while here though so this is how its gotta be. I hope everybody had a wicked Halloween, I know I did. Stay posted for some more pictures soon, its starting to really rain good and hard here now and I'm stoked to get a crappy umbrella and document it for you. Maybe it will make you feel a little better about all that white stuff I assume is falling around you right about now. I personally miss it, but to each their own.

Fallen Leaves

This time of year is so beautiful here in Nanaimo, so I took this weekend to take full advantage of the outdoors, and try to get some cool shots. I can't believe how lucky I am to literally live across the street from the park I fell in love with on summer vacations as a kid. Time has a very strange way of completely blowing your mind every once and a while, its a crazy life, but I'm loving it thus far. Unfortunately I didn't take nearly enough pictures. Stay posted for more pictures as fall here just keeps getting more and more awesome. Only bad thing is the snails and slugs seem to be gone for good. Hopefully this week I'll have time to get out and get some more shots of the awesome world I'm surrounded by right now. Anyways, thanks for stopping by!

About Me

My photo
Calgary, Alberta, Canada
Just a dude with some pens, pencils, markers, and a camera. The natural world is my inspiration for all my art, I often borrow concepts and ideas from the creepy crawly inhabitants living in my back yard, on the beach, or in books I read. I also get alot of my ideas by the visuals in my head I get upon contemplating the titles of songs from many of my favorite bands. Most of which are metal bands, needless to say there are some interesting song titles within the genre. As of late I have had a re-awakening of the spider lover within me, reminiscent of my days as a young boy out in the yard with a magnifying glass.
